Possible standing stone

This ground-level photograph shows a rock protruding from the ground some distance to the east of Dowth, which can be seen in the background. The field at Dowth is littered with rocks of similar size and structure - I recently counted at least five. It could be possible that at least some of these stones are standing stones, or maybe kerbstones for satellite sites. Because there has been no major excavation of the Dowth site, little is known which would confirm this theory or cast doubt upon it.
