Both
of these sites were excavated
during Professor Michael O'Kelly's excavations at Newgrange. In
the above photograph the stones in the foreground are the remains
of the kerb of site K, with the passage stones further back. Mound
L can be seen between these stones and the Newgrange mound in the
background.
This
is a photograph of the remains of the passage at site K, which is
aligned exactly north-south. Some of the stones are engraved.
According
to Prof.
O'Kelly, the mounds of these two sites, along with that of site
Z on the east side of Newgrange, were built of layers of turves.
