Chinese New Year 2009

Celebrate Chinese New Year at Armagh Planetarium on Sunday 1st February. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience a taste of Chinese culture and celebrate its astronomical ties. This will be a day packed full of entertainment suited to all the family. Why not tap into your creative side and have a go at making Chinese New Year lanterns and origami, or even launching your very own bottle rocket to mark the New Year. The celebrations would not be complete without a traditional Lion Dance to bring in luck for the New Year. Martial Arts demonstrations and Chinese dance will also bring energy to the festivities and you can even try your luck with our chopstick challenge.

No visit to Armagh Planetarium would be complete without a trip to our digital theatre. Armagh Planetarium is a family friendly centre of astronomy education and fun. The Planetarium’s most unique attraction is the Full Dome Digital Theatre. The Digital Theatre offers visitors the opportunity to fly through the Cosmos experiencing state of the art 3D images. The Theatre can seat up to 93 people in a comfortable air-conditioned environment.
