I got this in by e-mail from Australia:

Hi,

I found your website while searching for an image of Barnane,
Tipperary and the Devil's Bit Mountain. I found your page to be
fascinating. I agree with your plea - too often do we relinquish our
past and our treasures for the sake of the tourist dollar. I support
you in your quest.

My original search was for an image of the areas you speak of for my
family history. As I am in Australia I am having some difficultly in
locating information on Barnane or the people. If you by any chance
have come across an image of Barnane or the Devil's Bit Mountain which
you can refer me to I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

My ancestors were Johanna B1841, James B1839 and Patrick B1842
Morrissey children of Dennis and Mary (Biddy) Morrissey. They all
sailed to Australia in the 1860's. If by chance you could post my
email on a community notice board I would be overjoyed to hear from
anyone who could assist me in my research.

Thank you for reading my message. I hope to hear from you.

Good luck
Meagan Morrissey

Megan,

You have probably read www.mythicalireland.com/astronomy/boynecalendars.html
The article by Gillies Mac Bain 'Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth - Calendars for the Sun, Moon ans Stars'. The author mentions living close to that mountain. Maybe you could contact him?

www.IrishMegaliths.org.uk
The owner of the site is Anthony Weir. He has an amazing collection of photos and has also done work with other photographers. You can contact him through the site and ask him if he has any pictures of the area you are interested in.
