Recently, I visited Glendalough. Outside the hotel, on some unremarkable spot, stands a statue of what seem to be two stone horses, carrying some sort of shell. On closer view, hower, they turn out to be hippocamps, seahorses, part horse, part fish.

Still, I am curious. Anyone out here by ane chance knows anything about these horses or why something Greek would be standing near (the remains of) a monastery?
I am puzzled.
