Green Party don't accept finding of Chamber on M3
Fergal O'Byrne Green Party Candidate in the forthcoming by election has rejected the findings of the Chamber of Commerce on the supposed support for the NRA's chosen route of the M3 at Tara / Skryne / Dalgan. O'Byrne stated "you can get what ever answer you want by either posing the question in such way or failing to inform the interviewee of the consequence of either option. If the Chambers of commerce want to impose a slash and burn approach to protecting Meath heritage on findings of their own financed survey then God help us.
We have already seem that Fianna Fail's view of our heritage in this crucial location is only a few "pots & pans" - now the chamber of Commerce have joined in with a spurious report to support their already held stand point.
We need to be courageous and ensure that the route is at least diverted away from what in the words of one of Ireland's leading archaeologists "Tara / Skryne area is one of the most important and famous archaeological complexes in the world".
He went on to propose that the route of the M3 at Tara, Skryne & Dalgan stay West of the existing N3. this is consistent with all other parts of the proposed new route from Clonee to Kells and delete the proposed interchange at Garlow Cross (Blundolstown), as there is no planned new housing at this proposed major interchange and is clearly not needed.
If this motorway must go ahead then it should stay West. This will shorten the overall rout, do way with the large junction at Garlow Cross saving even more money and doing away with the need for a second toll South of Dunshsauglin.
We will also campaign for the more sustainable transport plan based on: Establishment of a commuter rail link connecting Kells, Navan, Dunshauglin, Clonee and Dunboyne to Dublin. Immediately start work on the bypass at Kells, Navan and Dunshaughlin.
I will be writing to the NRA putting this proposal and seeking costing on the savings on construction costs of keeping the route West of the N3 together with cancellation of the Garlow Cross junction"
