Aer Lingus' last Boeing departs Dublin Airport
|
 |
| The
last ever Aer Lingus Boeing, a B737-500 (registration EI-CDH) is escorted
to Runway 16 at Dublin Airport by the fire service for an historic
occasion - the last flight out of Dublin by an Aer Lingus Boeing in
Aer Lingus Colours. The flight was on October 29th, 2005, at the close
of the summer season. A number of the former Aer Lingus Boeing 737s
were bought by Russian airline Pulkovo. In fact, later on this historic
evening an Aer Lingus 737 (EI-CDG) flew in in Pulkovo livery. |

| I
simply called this photograph "Farewell". Aer Lingus had
operated Boeing planes as part of its fleet for over 30 years. From
this moment on, their entire fleet would be made up of Airbus only
- A320s, A321s and A330s. The typically grey and wet conditions reflected
the mood of some of the spotters and aviation enthusiasts who turned
out to see her off. |

| What
they look like when they come out of the paint shop! . . . this is
former Aer Lingus 735 EI-CDE taking off from Dublin on June 11th 2005
after being repainted for Pulkovo. |
This
is Aer Lingus 737-500 reg. no. EI-CDG, which operated for much of
summer 2005 in half-finished Pulkovo livery! (I dare not say it, but
I love this livery scheme!) |

being painted in Pulkovo livery. This is the best shot I could get!

Farewell:
Download a commemorative
wallpaper marking the end of an era. On October 29th, 2005, Aer
Lingus flew its last Boeing - a B737-500 - in Aer Lingus colours before
becoming an all-Airbus fleet. This special wallpaper shows some of
the Aer Lingus 737s before they were sold on. |
